About Dannebrog Country Club
Dannebrog Country Club is a 9-hole sand green course in Dannebrog, Nebraska. It is one of the last surviving sand green courses in the state and one of the most well known in the country. The greens are made of fine waxed sand rather than grass. After everyone hits the green, you grab a metal drag and smooth a path from your ball to the hole before putting. The signature hole is the par 3 second, with a green enclosed by a cut out section of a grain bin to keep cows out. Other greens are fenced off with barbed wire for the same reason. The course runs on the honor system, with day play available by dropping a few dollars into a steel lockbox. Playing Dannebrog is less about the scorecard and more about stepping into a piece of Nebraska golf history.
