Old Dane Golf Links

Old Dane Golf Links is a course near Dakota City, Nebraska, currently closed and in the middle of a major remodel. Owned by the Andersen family, whose roots in eastern Nebraska farming go back more than a hundred years, the course is being completely reimagined by Canadian architect Trevor Dormer in his first solo design. The reroute turns the old nine into a 12-hole walking course with flexible 6, 9, and 12 hole loops. The plans include major reshaping of the land, a new two acre lake, wider fairways, and distinctive features like a dramatically elevated 11th green and a shared fairway between holes 3 and 8. The course closed for construction and is expected to reopen in late 2026, with green fees staying refreshingly low. Until then, Old Dane is a work in progress worth keeping an eye on.
